Mazdoor Adhikar Sangharsh Abhiyan (MASA), a platform of 16 revolutionary trade union federations and workers’ organisations, organized an online workers’ convention on 26th January 2022 from 5:30 to 8 pm, in the background of the all India workers’ strike call by the Central Trade Unions for 23rd-24th February 2022.

The Convention was conducted by Com. Siddhant and was addressed by Comrades Sanjay Singhvi (GS, TRADE UNION CENTRE OF INDIA), Ashok (GRAMEEN MAZDOOR UNION, BIHAR), Mukul (MAZDOOR SAHYOG KENDRA), Balan (KARNATAKA SHRAMIK SHAKTI), Pal Singh (JAN SANGHARSH MANCH HARYANA), SV Rao (INDIAN FEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS), Shyambir (INQLABI MAZDOOR KENDRA), Munmun Biswas (STRUGGLING WORKERS’ COORDINATION COMMITTEE, WB), Kanhai Baranwal (IFTU (SARWAHARA)), Mohit (MAZDOOR SAHAYATA SAMITI).

All the speakers extended their support to the strike call and promised efforts for its success, but also highlighted the limitations of the Central Trade Unions which have made it a ritual to observe such one or two day strike annually without any decisive action. The unequivocal demand to repeal the 4 labour codes, termed as the biggest attack on the Indian working class since independence, was reiterated by the speakers. MASA, through its convention, gave the call to move beyond tokenism-ritualism and transform the strike into a consistent, militant, and decisive struggle of the working class.

The Convention was telecasted LIVE on MASA’s Facebook page which can be watched by clicking here.
